The 2020s: A Decade of Innovation and Unexpected Collaborations
As the world shifts and adapts to a new decade, so too does TVPS, embracing bold ideas and new platforms to amplify the voices of those affected by HIV.
In 2020, we launch our podcast HIV Hope & Charity, offering candid conversations, powerful stories, and just the right amount of sass. Its impact is immediate, and by 2022, the show gets a fresh new name, The HIV Podcast, reflecting its growing reach and bold direction.
Meanwhile in Reading, we honour lives lost and celebrate those living with HIV by planting a living memorial, a cherry blossom tree, in Christchurch Meadows, a space for reflection, remembrance and renewal.
Never ones to shy away from something different, we form an unexpected (but wildly successful) partnership with a wildlife organisation. The collaboration grabs national attention, featuring in over 200 publications.
In Slough, where LGBTQIA+ spaces are few and far between, we bring Beyou, a vibrant LGBTQIA+ social group, to life. What starts as a safe space to connect soon grows into something more, offering emotional support and community-led training.
Meanwhile, The HIV Podcast becomes a surprise hit, listened to in 182 countries and recognised across the UK’s podcasting scene, earning nominations at the ARIAs, British Podcast Awards and Independent Podcast Awards.
The 2020s are proof that with a bit of creativity, a lot of heart, and a willingness to try the unexpected, even the most serious topics can find fresh, hopeful, and occasionally fabulous new ways to be heard.
Kicking off our 40th anniversary celebrations, we commemorated such a huge milestone by the creation of a mural, in our Slough centre, created by
positive service user, Allan.
Here Allan tells us about his inspiration and what creating this mural means to him.
We sat down with one half of our fantastic client support team, Chantelle, to talk HIV, memories and hopes for the future!
In this episode of The HIV Podcast, Jess and Sarah take a stroll down memory lane as they dust off two of TVPS’s vintage newsletters, because what better way to mark our 40th anniversary than with a peek into our own archives? From animal adoption to Sarah's editorial input, we’re uncovering what was making headlines (and raising eyebrows) back then. Expect a few giggles, a touch of history, and a whole lot of appreciation for how far we’ve come.
Zoe, our LGBT+ Co-ordinator & Office Co-ordinator talks to us about all things Beyou and how she sees the future of LGBTQ+ services at TVPS!
