Pride in Cancer Care is a specialist TVPS service supporting the LGBTQIA+ community affected by cancer and working to make cancer care more inclusive.
Funded by Macmillan Cancer Support, the two-year project has been created to help bridge the gap between LGBTQIA+ communities and cancer services. It complements and builds on the existing HIV and LGBTQIA+ support provided by TVPS and through our BeYou service.
How we can support you
Our dedicated LGBTQIA+ Cancer Navigator offers personalised support to people affected by cancer, helping you navigate cancer services, understand the support available to you and advocate for the things that matter to you.
We understand that being affected by cancer can be difficult enough without worrying about whether you will be understood, whether assumptions will be made about you, or whether your partner, family or the people important to you will be recognised and included.
Whether you have received a cancer diagnosis, are going through treatment, are living beyond cancer or are supporting someone affected by cancer, we're here to help.
Helping to improve cancer care
Pride in Cancer Care isn't only about supporting people individually. We also want to use the experiences and voices of LGBTQIA+ people to help create lasting improvements in cancer care.
Through a lived experience library and a co-produced inclusivity audit of local cancer pathways, we'll work with LGBTQIA+ communities and cancer services to understand where barriers exist and what genuinely inclusive cancer care should look like.
By putting lived experience at the heart of the project, we hope to help make cancer services more inclusive, responsive and accessible – both for people using them today and those who will need them in the future.
